Tech Support
"A Life on Hold"
Plot Summary
A deceptive company, clueless customer service representatives and one angry customer make for a roaring good time in this original one-act dark comedy musical from Boll & Hertel Productions.
When a major appliance corporation faces the demise of its luxury refrigerator line, they decide to turn their attention to an emerging market in senior care. However, they face a dilemma: how to discourage lingering refrigerator service calls. Their solution? Retrain their call center employees in a very creative way, as one unlucky caller soon finds out. It all adds up to "holds, hang-ups and hilarity" in TECH SUPPORT, the new one-act musical comedy from Boll & Hertel Productions.
After his refrigerator malfunctions, Carl, its hapless owner, calls for help and is plunged into a world of frustration as he is transferred from one phone operator to another, enduring endless hold music and butchered variations of the English language (not to mention the pointed sarcasm of his unsympathetic wife) -- until the inevitable explosion occurs.
Through it all, a “customer service chorus" and a six-piece band provide a musical underscore, all based on extensive research of corporate hold music and countless real-life hours dealing with corporate red tape.
TECH SUPPORT will strike a chord with anyone who has ever called for help and wished they hadn't. It's fast, it's funny, and it's much shorter than your average tech support call.
Disclaimer: Any resemblance to real customer service representatives (if they do exist) or real-life tech support experiences is purely intentional.
